Trustee & Public Relations Officer

 

Born in Bath, educated in Cheshire and then by the Royal Navy. After 10 years as a sea-going engineer returned to study at Manchester University. An early career in Research and Lecturing followed before becoming Managing Director, for 20 years, of a number of group companies in Tecalemit Plc., later Invensys Plc. As a Chartered Engineer and Manager is currently Project Director with the Vosper Motor group. Voluntary service includes Trusteeships of the Peninsula Medical & Dental School Foundation, the Tamar Education Trust, Company Pension and Property funds. Service also, with NGO’s, College & Training Centre Governorships, Hospice Building Fund and as a Management Diploma Examiner. Many years as a member of a Business Education Partnership assisting in running school business learning projects in W.Devon Founder President, Saltram-Plympton club and D1290 Governor 1993/4. RI service includes – International Assembly Training Leader, Task Force Co-ordinator, 2003 Convention and RYLA Committees and Rotary Foundation Major Gifts National Advisor. RIBI service as 2000/1 President, Chairman of Membership Service and other Special Committees, Assembly Group Leader, author of the ‘History of Rotary in RIBI -1975 to 2005’ and currently Trustee and PR Officer for the Rotary Jaipur Limb Project. Norman is a Paul Harris Fellow and Foundation Benefactor. He holds fellowships as a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and is a Fellow of the Institute of Management, the Society of Operating Engineers and the Institute of Plant Engineers and holds a Diploma in Education.
